India secured the five-match ODI series against Australia, after beating them by five wickets in the 3rd ODI at the Holkar Stadium (Indore) on Sunday night.

Australia decided to bat first after winning the toss, and they put up 293/6 on the board by the end of 50 overs.

In reply, India chased down the target in 47.5 overs after losing five wickets. With this victory, India took a 3-0 lead in this ODI series.

  1. Australia scored 293/6 in 50 overs. It is the highest ODI score by a visiting team at the Holkar Stadium (Indore). The previous best was 288 (50 overs) by England against India on 15th April 2006.

Also, it is the first time at Holkar Stadium (Indore) when a visiting side is not bundled out in an ODI match.

 

  1. Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav was very expensive in this match, as his bowling figure was 10-0-75-2. It is the most runs conceding spell by a left-arm spinner against Australia in the ODI history. The previous record holder was another Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja with a bowling figure of 10-0-73-3 (at Bengaluru on 2nd November 2013).

 

  1. Indian openers Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma provided a good start, as they put a 139-runs partnership for the opening wicket. It is India’s fifth highest ODI partnership for the opening wicket against Australia. The top five list is below:

At the end of the match, Rohit Sharma had hit 65 sixes in international cricket against Australia while he surpassed the previous record holder former New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum (61 sixes in international cricket against Australia).

 

  1. Despite scoring 124 runs, Aaron Finch ended for a losing side, as Australia lost this match by five wickets. In a losing cause, it is the second highest individual ODI score for Australia against India. The highest is 156 runs by George Bailey in Nagpur on 30th October 2013 (Australia lost by sixwickets).
