IND vs AUS 2017, 4th ODI: David Warner was Simply Unbelievable – Steven Smith

Finally, the Australians got the overweight monkey off their backs, as the visitors registered a rare overseas ODI win.
It was a perfect team performance from the Steven Smith-led outfit at Bengaluru, as they played with tremendous grit and zeal to finish the game successfully. The chief architect of the win for Australia though was the vice-captain David Warner, who’s 14th ODI ton propelled them to 334-5.
India, however, got off to an absolute flier off a start with the opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane coming to the party. Both openers though, couldn’t convert their half centuries into the three figures, and their dismissals got Australia right back into the game.
The run-out of Rohit Sharma in particular opened up the gates for Australia, and the visitors took this opportunity with both hands. Post the win, skipper Steven Smith was delighted with the performance of his side and lauded his outfit.
“Nice to be on this side. Nice to get a win in. Warner and Finch were spectacular. Set us up to get 330. We lost a few wickets again. Handscomb was very good at the end. Nice little cameo to get us to 330,” said Smith.
Smith fully lauded his gun opener David Warner for his sublime ton at Bangalore.
“Nice to defend and get a win. We were probably a bit too wide with the new ball. Bowlers were a little bit off throughout but pulled things back. Nice to sit up there and watch Warner do his thing. His ODI form in the last two years has been unbelievable.”
