India won the first T20 against Australia by nine wickets via D/L method in a rain-affected match. The Australian team suffered another loss on their tour of India as they lost the first T20 by nine wickets via D/L method. The Aussies were 118/8 when rain interrupted play. The Indians were then set a target of 48 runs in 6 overs which the hosts achieved losing just one wicket and three balls to spare. Australian middle order struggled to establish a partnership in the middle overs which resulted in a low target after the D/L method.
India dominated the match from the first over as Bhuvaneshwar Kumar removed the Australian skipper for the T20 series David Warner. None of the Australian batsman except Aaron Finch who scored 42 looked threatening to the India bowling attack. India, on the other hand, was very dominant in all aspects of the match. Australia could only manage 118/8 when rain interrupted play. Indian bowlers did not give any loose balls to the Australian batting line. They were spot on in the field and lost just the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the run chase.
Kapil Dev who led India to the World Cup glory in 1983 believes that this team is almost impossible to beat at home. He said:
“It is very hard, if not impossible to beat this Indian side on home soil, I am eager to see this team do well overseas. The kind of players we have I am sure this team will play good cricket on foreign soil. The time is not far when Team India will conquer the world.”
He was all praises for the bowlers who have bowled exceptionally throughout the series. He said:
“I have never seen such an impressive bowling unit. They hunt in a pack. With the kind of action Kuldeep has, it has difficult to pick his wrong ones, no wonder the Australians are finding it hard to decipher him.”
