The Chief Minister of Assam Directed the Chief Secretary to conduct an enquiry into the matter and had earlier direct the DGP Assam to nab the culprits as soon as possible.
Jason Behrendroff was chosen as the man of the match as he picked up four wickets in his quota of four overs giving away just 21 runs. He ripped apart the Indian batting top order picking up Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the first over. This was the first match played in Guwahati in seven years at a new stadium. It was the 49th venue to host an international match in India.
India was bowled out for a mere 118 runs in the first innings. Kedhar Jadhav was the top scorer for the Indian team as he scored 27 runs. He was followed by Hardik Pandya who scored 25 runs but was unable to consolidate on the start. Jason Behrendroff picked up the top four wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey. The other bowlers equally helped him. Adam Zampa was the most economical bowler for the Aussies.
Australia chased down the target in just 15.3 overs courtesy a 109 runs partnership between Moises Henriques and Travis Head. Henriques scored 62 of 46 deliveries and Head scored 48 runs in 34 balls.
