IND vs SL 2017, 2nd Test: Twitter Lauds Virat Kohli For His 19th Test Ton
Nov 26, 2017 at 11:40 AM
There is no stopping Virat Kohli, as the India skipper scored yet another century in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Nagpur, thus taking his tally to 19 in Tests.
With platform already set for a huge score courtesy of a huge 209-run partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay, Kohli fully capitalised on it. The India skipper, who had scored a duck and an unbeaten century in the first Test at the Eden Gardens, looked in sublime touch right from the word go, piling more misery on the visitors, as he blazed away to a swift 66-ball half-century.
He was unbeaten on 54 on the second day and began the proceedings on the third day, in the same manner, thus reaching his century off just 130 balls. The right-handed batsman hit ten fours en route to his knock and was well supported by Cheteshwar Pujara who was unbeaten on 135 when the skipper reached the three-digit mark.

Virat Kohli made that century look very easy. A great batsman at the height of his powers against a bowling side that posed no questions.

Meanwhile, the knock helped Kohli to surpass the legendary Sunil Gavaskar and become the India skipper with most Test centuries. The century was Kohli’s 12th, as India skipper, bettering Sunil Gavaskar’s tally of 11 Test hundreds as captain.
Even in the last Test, Kohli had achieved a major milestone, as his sublime 104-run knock made him only the second Indian batsman after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to score 50 international tons. Kohli is now eighth in the list of most number of international centuries.
He had also equalled Hashim Amla’s record of hitting the fastest 50 international centuries, reaching the landmark in his 348th innings.
