IND Vs SL 2017: Ravichandran Ashwin Gets First Wicket For Indian Spinners In the Series

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first in the second Test being played at the NCA Stadium in Nagpur. Sri Lanka went in with an unchanged team in the second Test, while India made three changes to their side giving as Murali Vijay, Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma came back to the playing XI. Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been released from the squad due to personal reasons whereas Mohammed Shami is struggling with a side niggle.
The Sri Lankan team finished the first session at 47/2 as the players went in for lunch. Ishant Sharma who was making a comeback to the side picked up the first wicket of the innings of Sadeera Samarawickrama. Lahiru Thirimanne then joined Karunaratne to steady the innings. Both the left-handed batsmen looked solid at the start of the innings and were looking comfortable facing deliveries from Ishant and Umesh Yadav.
In the first Test, spinners bowled just ten overs and were wicketless throughout the match. However, this wasn’t the case in the second match as Kohli threw the ball to Ashwin who bowled eight overs in the first session picking up the wicket of Thirimanne.
Ashwin bowled a flighted delivery which the left-hander tried to sweep but missed it completely and was clean bowled.
