India A defeated a strong Australian A at Marrara Oval, Darwin on Saturday, August 2, by four wickets to clinch the title of quadrangular series involving South Africa A and Australia’s national performance squad who finished third and fourth respectively.  

Batting first Australia A posted a challenging total of 275 runs to win in the final, as century from Cameron White (137 off 150 balls) helped the hosts to a decent target of 274/5 in their 50 allotted overs. The other player to shine for Australia A was Phil Hughes who scored a commanding 51 runs. But that fifty came off 70 balls. Some late hitting from Ben Cutting helped the hosts reach past 270 runs.

For India Dhawal Kulkarani was the pick of the bowlers, returning with figures of 3/51 in his 10 allotted overs. Akhsar Patel and Mohit Sharma picked up a wicket each.

Chasing a huge target Indian A were in early trouble as they lost captain Robin Uthappa (12) and Manan Vohra (8) as India, at one stage, were 2/26 in 4.2 overs. India A continued to slide from there on as they lost half their side for 161 in 31st over. But then duo of Kedar Jhadhav (78) and Manoj Tiwary (50) resurrected Indian innings which was duly finished off by a composed 56 run innings as India A clinched the title.

India A 275/6 (48.4 overs) defeated Australia A 274/5 (50 overs) by 4 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
