The final Test match of the ongoing five-match series between India and England may get relocated from Chennai as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaraman suffered cardiac arrest on Sunday, which might escalate the tension among her fans in the region later on.
The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Chennai where she is being monitored by the team of doctors.
Sportzwiki has learnt from sources if her health deteriorates further, there is a possibility of the Chennai Test to be shifted to some other location.
The fifth Test was scheduled between December 16 and 20 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
AIIMS specialists were also flown to Tamil Nadu, to examine the health of AIADMK chief, who’s on the extracorporeal membrane heart assist device since last evening.
As India is leading the five-match series 2-0 against England, the hosts would like to bounce back in fourth Test, starting in Mumbai on December 8.
As Jayalalithaa’s fans hit the streets, heavy contingent of police were deployed in the state as it remained on the high alert after her health was stated “critical”.
However, while filing this report, there is no confirmation on cancellation of venue from the BCCI.
In 2008, the two Tests scheduled in Ahmedabad and Mumbai between England and India were also shifted to Chennai and Mohali after concerns over security.
