India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni exclaimed on Monday that his side took good lesson from the mistakes they made in the disastrous tour of England in 2011. Dhoni stated that their defeat helped them to improve and bounce back to win the second Test at Lord’s by 95 runs.
MS Dhoni stated that he thinks they have done things right. It is a Memorable Test for all of us. Not many players had played a Test away from home. But players took the onus. He thinks that it was a crucial toss and helped them to get the outcome. There was a bit of moisture on the wicket. The openers and the player coming at No 3 did well to play there. Overall looking at the batting department we did well. And the tail is also performing well. The lesson from the 2011 series was to stay in the match till the third day of the series and we did exactly that. Get the spinners in to play after that.
Talking about Murali Vijay, Dhoni exclaimed that the more Tests he plays his technique is very good but at times he doubts himself. So as time progresses he will be a good batsmen and provide us with match winning innings.
About the bowling post lunch the Indian captain exclaimed that to him it was important that we had 200 runs. We had many ways to look at it. What cricket has shown is it’s a great leveller. We had to put pressure on them and get the desired outcome. There was a big partnership before lunch and we would have started doubting us about our success. But that wicket of Moeen gave Ishant the confidence to come back hard and we could see our victory. Ishant has experience and is our strike bowler.
On Standing behind to Jadeja he said not really and also said he have never been there. He wanted Virat to stand wide, but he was worried that the ball will sneak between them. If there is an edge it will carry. They couldn’t have three fielders behind and hence he went back. They didn’t get many chances but it worked for them. India came out with 95 run victory.
