In what can be termed as a colossal relief for cricket lovers, the India-Pakistan game in the upcoming ICC World T20 is bound to proceed as per the initial schedule.
Recently, clouds began to emerge over the highly anticipated encounter as political forces in India were reluctant in hosting the game.
Seeing the reluctance from the Indian side, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also threatened to pull out of the T20 World Cup citing security measures in India.
Rajiv Shukla, a senior member of the BCCI and the chairman of the IPL stated clearly that the India-Pakistan game would go ahead as per schedule.
“As far as the match is concerned, we are firm that we will be hosting the match there (Dharamsala) as per schedule because there are interests of commitments which requires to be fulfilled. Otherwise, the ICC will take a stern action against the venue.
The state government is also willing to cooperate,” Shukla said.
Shukla also added that the Indian government was willing to give foolproof security to the Pakistani team and the same had been said to the PCB. “As far as the BCCI is concerned, foolproof security will be provided to Pakistan.
They should not worry about the security arrangements. Now the decision has to be taken by the PCB if they want to come or not.
They are accountable to the International Cricket Council. The PCB should decide on the matter but we will be providing foolproof security to their players,” Shukla said.
