The India v Pakistan match at World T20 2016 is under the cloud due to the strong opposition by several politicians.

In the upcoming World T20, India v Pakistan match is scheduled for 19th March at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh at Super 10 stage. But at present, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) asked BCCI to either cancel the match or shift the venue from Dharamsala.

Due to the earlier incident of Pathankot terrorist attack, most of the leaders have raised a question about organising the match in Dharamsala at the present situation. The HPCC president Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu criticised BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and said, “BCCI should either cancel or shift the match to another state to honour the sentiments of families of martyrs.”

Sukhu added, “Our party is not against holding other World Cup matches but only opposing the one against Pakistan as it would hurt the sentiments of the people, especially the families of martyrs.”

Sukhu questioned, “When the Indo-Pak talks can be cancelled after the terror attack, why not the cricket match?”

Sukhu also asked the BJP MP Anurag Thakur to make his stand clear on the issue as, “He had earlier conducted a march from Kolkata to Lal Chowk in Kashmir to hoist national flag”.

On the other hand, Senior BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar also opposed organising the match in Himachal Pradesh. He sent a letter to PM Narendra Modi by saying, “Himachal Pradesh is the land of brave soldiers and two martyrs of the terror attack in Pathankot were from this area and a memorial is located just a few meters from the cricket stadium where the match is to be played.”

The BJP leader is very scared about the security of Pakistan players and their fans. will get when the game takes place, he added, “In view of this, it could also be a security threat for Pakistani players and their fans.”
