The effect of the revised structure of the ICC has now started to show it’s effect with most of the big future tournaments are now coming India’s way. According to the ICC Chief, N Srinivasan, India will host the 2023 World Cup and that too alone, which has never happened before in the history. India has co-hosted World Cup in 1987, 1996 and 2011 but has never hosted it alone.

In 1983, India and Pakistan hosted the World Cup.In 1996, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were the co-hosters along with India and in 2011, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were the co-shosts after Pakistan was left out due to the security reasons and it’s share of matches were distributed between the other 3.

Not only the 2023 World Cup, the ICC World T20 in 2016 and  ICC Champion’s Trophy in 2021 will also be held exclusively in India. In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Srinivasan said that earlier India used to get an event ian ICC event in 16-18 years  and that too was shared between the Asian countries but now 3 events will be there in every 8 years and it is a significant change.

Recently, Srini told NDTV that he will never stop cheering for India. When asked about the current team , he said that the present team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni has performed well in the recent away tours of South Africa and New Zealand and were unlucky that they could not win the series.

India is the defending Champion of the World Cup and also of the Champions Trophy. In 2011, they became the first country to win the World Cup final at home. However, their performance in the T20 World Cups have been below par after their win in the inaugral World Cup in 2007 . However , the only at par performance in the 2014 World Cup where they managed to reach the finals .
