The Indian selectors have rested Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for the three-match T20I series against England. Amit Mishra and Parvez Rasool have been called up to the squad as the star duo has been rested.
Ashwin and Jadeja have been members of the Indian squad right from the start of the long home season. Earlier, there were expectations that the duo might be rested for the limited overs series as well keeping in mind the long schedule that awaits India after this series. Now with Indian team set to play five more Test matches, IPL and Champions Trophy in next six months, the selectors decided to give the duo a break from international duty.
Amit Mishra, who was the man of the series in the ODI series against New Zealand, will spearhead the bowling line-up in absence Ashwin with Rasool also having a fair chance of being selected in the playing XI. Not to forget that Rasool can also contribute with the bat, so he looks a direct replacement for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
The three-match T20I series start from January 26 with the first game to be played at Kanpur. Nagpur and Bangalore will host the next two T20Is on January 29 and February 1, respectively.
The T20I series is the last leg for England on their tour to India that started on November 9 with five Test match series followed by three ODI’s.
