India vs Australia 2017: “It’s Very Best Achievement By Any Team To Win In India,” Opines Allan Border

The former Australian skipper Allan Border has said that a series win against India in India is the ‘Best’ achievement for any team as in past it has been difficult for Australia to win a series in India,
“It’s right up there with the very best achievements by any team, because (winning in India) has been the holy grail of Australian cricket. It would be unbelievable,” Border told foxsports.com.au.
Border expressed surprise to see that Australian team won the first Test match and also heaped praise on the team for the grit they showed on the final day of the Ranchi Test match, which ended in a draw,
“I’m surprised we’re in this position, 1-1 going into the last Test. Even batting out the last day in the third Test, that was a huge achievement. That alone just shows how far the side’s come as a group. But even if it’s a drawn series, 1-1, that flies in the face of all us experts. And I say that because I was one of (the experts who wrote Australia off), I thought we’d struggle given our recent form in the subcontinent and just historically,” he added.
Surely, it’s a big achievement for the Australian team to win and draw a game each in the series till now as no one expected this sort of show from the visitors and every performance which has come out from their side has none less than been a surprise, keeping in mind their past performances.
On their last tour to sub-continent last year against Sri Lanka, Australians danced to the tunes Sri Lankan spinners and were whitewashed in the three-match Test series.
The same sort of show was expected from the visitors on this tour but they made most out of their time spent in UAE, where they assimilated to the conditions similar to India and the results were seen on the field.
The fourth and final Test match starts on March 25 at Dharamsala, where the winner of the game will take away the series and in case the Test ends in a draw, then it will be Australians that will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, by virtue of defeating India by 2-0 in 2014/15 Test series.
