India vs Australia 2017: “I Probably Believe, Whoever Wins The Toss Will Win The Game,” Michael Clarke

Indian team was on their way to go up two up in the series in Ranchi Test as on eve of the final day, Ravinder Jadeja picked up two crucial breakthroughs that lit up hopes of a win but the story was not the same on the final day. The Australian batsmen batted contrary to the hopes, defending the ball and the game as well.

They lost just four wickets on the final day of the game to upset India as the match ended in a draw and hopes of the Indian team to gain a lead in the series with a match to go were vanquished.

The former Australian skipper Michael Clarke was pretty much happy with the performance of his team as he thinks that Kangaroos will take a lot of confidence into the next game with this draw,

“I think the fight they showed (Australian team) in Ranchi in the second innings, they will take a lot of confidence from finding a way to fight for that draw. There was a time in the game when I thought Australia had a chance to bowl out India earlier but credit had to go to India the way Saha and Pujara played, Australia was under pressure to save the game. I think Handscomb and Shaun Marsh really stood up. I think Australia will take that confidence into the last Test match.”

Before the series, Clarke claimed that he predicted Australia will take the series by 2-1 and on being asked to predict the result of the final game, he stood on his earlier stand once again and said,

“I certainly think they can. I predicted a 2-1 series win for Australia before even the first ball was bowled. I think I predicted it right unless its a draw. I think they have played really well. They have really played well in patches throughout the series. They have proved in the first Test match at Pune.”

Clarke opined that the team winning the toss will win the game,

“I probably believe, who ever win the toss will win the game.”

The former Australian World Cup winning captain spoke out the name of number bowlers when asked to name a bowler who troubled him the most,

“I was told that Jadeja got me out five times and he is a very good bowler in these conditions in particular. I am sure Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, James Anderson, Andrew Flintoff, lots of guys got me out so it is tough. Murali, Harbhajan, Kumble, Jadeja, Ashwin, are all tough. They are so many.”

The fourth and the final Test match of the series will kick off on March 25 in Dharamsala. Looking at the weather and conditions, Australian team though have something in their favour but it is also to be noted that Indian pacers, especially Umesh Yadav has also bowled well in the series Also, there are chances of Mohammed Shami featuring in the final Test match to bolster the Indian pace attack.

So, the balance is now even on both the sides and the team applying the basics right, will win the game and will take away the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
