MS Dhoni is often known for outfoxing the batsman and inflicting a rapid stumping. That has been the trend throughout his career as being a wicketkeeper; he holds the record for the most number of stumpings in ODI’s. However, the former Indian skipper was at the receiving end as he was completely outclassed by Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
India initially were rocked early, thanks to a sensational spell from Jason Behrendorff. The left arm pacer made an absolute mockery of the Indian top order as he ravaged the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. India were left reeling for 27-4 when Dhoni came in, and the Western Australian pacer was in the middle of an outstanding spell.
Dhoni along with Kedar Jadhav did begin a little slowly but did manage to inflict a bit of a recovery. When Zampa came in, Dhoni looked to be aggressive as the veteran was in the mood to boss the spinner right from the offset.
In the tenth over, Dhoni stepped out of his crease on nearly all deliveries in a bid to get some tactical edge over the leg-spinner. However, on the fifth delivery, the ball bounced and spun viciously which caught Dhoni off guard as he jumped down the track.
Tim Paine did the rest by taking the bails off, and Dhoni was on his way back to the pavilion. Below, is the video of Dhoni’s dismissal.
