The cricket fraternity was surprised after the little-known Aniket Choudhary was named in the India A squad to face Bangladesh in their only practice game before the historical Test match against India but today, the boy from Rajasthan conquered, dominated, toppled the Bangladesh batting line-up.
The day started with Chama Milind and Hardik Pandya opening the bowling for India A. Milind came up with a wicket of Imrul Kyes in the fifth over of the day whereas Pandya was removed from bowling after the captain of India A against Australia, leaked 29 runs in just three ever he bowled.
It was after the removal of Pandya from the attack, Aniket Choudhary was handed the ball and he came up with the big wicket of Tamim Iqbal in the tenth over of the game. Aniket soon followed up with another wicket of Mominul Haq, just showing a trailer of what Indian bowling line-up can do to Bangladesh batsmen in the Test series.
Middle order batsmen came up with small but useful knocks and helped Bangladesh to first eclipse short 150-run milestone, followed by 200 before declaring their innings of 224/8 in 67 overs they played.
Aniket Choudhary shone with the ball as he scalped a four-fer whereas CV Milind, Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Kuldeep Yadav scalped a wicket each. For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar scored half centuries.
India A had an opportunity and challenge to survive the last 21 overs in the day but after the completion of half of the overs of the evening, India A lost wicket of skipper Abhinav Mukund who was caught by Imrul Kayes off Subashis Roy.
Priyanka Panchal, the highest run-scorer of this year Ranji Trophy and Shreyas Iyer though stood tall and did not let fall of any wicket in the remaining period of the day. Panchal showed grit and talent. Whilst his innings of 40*, he showed his class and also presented a case for the future.
Still, there are many more players in Indian line up like Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Jayant Yadav and Hardik Pandya who will be drawing eyes tomorrow when the home team comes out to bat.
