India vs England 2016, 1st Test, Rajkot: Twitter Reactions
Nov 9, 2016 at 5:11 PM
Proving everyone wrong, England batted brilliantly to take command of the opening day of the first Test against India at Rajkot. Coming from a demoralising defeat against Bangladesh, there were speculations all around that the English players will find it tough to counter the Indian spinners. However, the visitors batted brilliantly on the first day to send out a strong signal to the world number one team.
England skipper Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that was looking good for batting. Cook along with debutant Haseeb Hameed added 47 runs for the first wicket to give the visitors a decent start. They were also aided by some poor fielding by Indian players. However, Cook’s team was in a spot of bother after losing three wickets with only 102 runs on a board. But then, an 179-run partnership between Joe Root and Moeen Ali steadied the ship and helped the visitors take command of the match. Root finally departed in a controversial manner but not before scoring his first century in Asia. Moeen continued to bat with ease and ended the day on one run shy of a deserving hundred. England were 311 for 4 at stumps. Moeen and Ben Stokes (19) will start the proceedings with the bat on the second day.

In 2013 Australia ended with 316/7 on the opening day of the Test series. India still made a 4-0 clean-sweep !!!#IndvsEng #IndvEng

If Cook is batting like a Hillary Clinton fan, India are fielding like Hillary Clinton.
