India vs England 2016, 5th Test, Day 4: Twitter Lauds Karun Nair After His Maiden Double Ton
Feb 23, 2019 at 12:57 PM
Karun Nair finally justified his selection in the team with a brilliant double century in the ongoing Test against England. The Karnataka batsman scored only 17 runs in the last two Tests but staked a strong claim for a spot in the playing eleven with his outstanding knock.
Nair joined KL Rahul in the middle when the team was in a spot of bother after losing in-form Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli. The score at that time was 211, still, 266 runs behind England’s first innings total of 477. However, the 25-year-old grabbed the opportunity and proved his worth with a magnificent knock to put India in a strong position. He got a reprieve earlier in the innings when Alastair Cook dropped him on 34 but apart from that, the Indian batsman did not make too many errors as he became only the third Indian batsmen to convert his first Test century into a double century.
Last heard, the batsman was batting on 206. His knock was studded with 24 fours and one maximum.
As expected, the Twitterati lauded the youngster for his magnificent double ton. Here are some of the best reactions:

Karun Nair wouldn't even be playing this Test, a freak injury to Rahane helps Karun retain his spot and he gets a double ton. #destiny
