India vs England 2016: Predicting India’s XI For Rajkot Test

India would be looking to whitewash of England on their home turf just as they did to New Zealand. India lost their previous home series against England and would have revenge in their mind.

But the hosts will some some of their key batsmen due to injuries for the first two test matches. Here’s predicting India’s line up for the first test against England :

Virat Kohli : As the skipper of the Indian Test team, he’s a sure shot inclusion in the line-up. He is in tremendous form both as a batsman and as skipper. Kohli has managed to score two double hundreds this year and would be looking to continue the same form against England.

Murali Vijay : His campaign against New Zealand was not as good as he would have expected it to be but the batsman is likely to retain his spot in the playing XI for the first test.

Gautam Gambhir : The southpaw needs to make a mark to prove himself to the selectors. He has been in good form in the Ranji Trophy and has earned his spot in the Test team.

Cheteshwar Pujara : He was the best batsman or India in the series against the Black Caps. Pujara was instrumental in India’s whitewash of the Kiwis and thus will surely retain his spot in the playing XI for the first test.

Ajinkya Rahane : In the absence of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, Rahane will have another opportunity to shine though he has a good series against the Kiwis. He played a key knock of 188 in the third Test at Indore which helped India set up a big total.

Wriddhiman Saha : He would be a key figure in the Indian squad as a wicketkeeper, who can score runs when the team needs. His contributions against the Black Caps were huge as he bagged the man of the match award in the second Test.

Ravichandran Ashwin : There is no doubt in the fact that Ashwin will keep his place in the playing XI as he took 27 wickets in the series against New Zealand. He would be the main bowler for India on the spin-friendly tracks of India.

Ravindra Jadeja : He also impressed in the last series against the Kiwis with the ball. Jadeja was the second highest wicket-taker for India and thus will most likely retain his spot in the playing XI.

Amit Mishra : Mishra has been in scintillating form with the ball in the recent past. He helped India secure a 3-2 victory over New Zealand in the ODI series, taking five wickets in the final ODI at Vizag.

Mohammed Shami: He took eight wickets in the last Test series and is also likely to play the first test match against England. He can be dangerous with his reverse-swing bowling for the England batsmen.

Umesh Yadav : His bowling in the ODI series against the Kiwis was not disappointing. Yadav can hurt the England batsman with his raw pace. He would be crucial in providing the early breakthroughs.
