India vs England Day 1 Fifth Test : Five Talking Points!

It was a good day of cricket at Chennai as both India and England look determined to get a result in the final Test. England ended the day at 284 with the loss of four wickets and would look to build on their total tomorrow. Moeen Ali played an excellent innings for the Englishmen as he remains unbeaten at 120. For India, it was again Ravindra Jadeja who stole the show as he picked up three English wickets.
Here are the five talking points of the day:
Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Cook 5th time in this series: After dismissing Cook on four occasions in the Test series against England, Jadeja once again picked up the English skipper on the first day of the 5th Test at Chennai. Previously Jadeja dismissed the England captain LBW thrice and stumped once but this time it was a different type of dismissal. Cook tried to defend a delivery from Jadeja and edged the ball which was caught well by Virat Kohli at the slip.
England openers falter: England skipper Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings started the England innings in the hope to make it big but both the left-handers did not last long courtesy some effective bowling by Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Ishant Sharma picked up Jennings for just a run whereas Jadeja got Cook while he was batting on 10 runs.
Moeen Ali, Joe Root partnership: Moeen Ali and Joe Root partnership was the crucial point in the England innings as the two batsmen guided the team out of trouble. The partnership was solid and classy as they saw off spin and pace to take the total to 167 before Root was dismissed by Jadeja. Root Scored a brilliant 88 runs while Moeen Ali is still unbeaten on 120.
Ravindra Jadeja picks three wickets: Ravindra Jadeja on day one of the Fifth Test of the five-match Test series against England was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets on the day. England batsmen found him tough to tackle as he broke the all-important partnership between Root and Moeen Ali which looked solid from the start. Jadeja ended the day with 3 for 73 runs from his 28 overs.
Moeen Ali century: Moeen Ali struck a beautiful ton on day one of the fifth Test to see England to a respectable position at the end of the day. He also brought up his 1000 runs in Tests in 2016 which is a remarkable achievement. Ali remained unbeaten at the crease with 120 runs from 222 deliveries which included 12 boundaries. He also played at a decent strike rate of 54.05.
