India vs England Mumbai Test: MCA To Provide Free Tickets To Students

The Mumbai Cricket Association has announced that the Board will be providing free passes to school and college students for the fourth Test of the series between India and England. The fourth Test will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The board took into consideration the low attendance during the first three Tests and thus took this decision.

“The passes will be issued against a letter from the school/college signed by the Principal on a first come first serve basis. Each school/college will be allotted a maximum 15 passes for the said match,” said a media release from MCA on Friday.

“The Association has also planned a series of events, including interaction with former and current Indian cricketers during the breaks, to enable spectators to meet and talk to them,” the release added.

Wankhede Stadium is hosting a Test match after a brief period of three years with the last one coming in November 2013, the final Test match of Sachin Tendulkar. Mumbai Cricket Association is in hope of the same sort of attendance during the Test, the reason why they have taken this step.

Last year we saw DDCA distributing free passes to school students as well. More than 50% of seats in the stadium were acquired by school students with the genial public filling just 20% of the chairs. Rest of the seats were empty. In short, the attendance of school students during the game graced the fourth and final Test where India defeated South Africa and completed a spectacular whitewash over Proteas.

Currently, India is one up in the five-match series with still two Test matches to go. However, the hosts cannot afford to take the visitors lightly as it is the same ground where the visitors turned the table and made a comeback in 2012. Keeping this fact in mind, the Virat Kohli-led squad will not try to experiment anything new with riding the team on the same track
