Following are the top moments in India v Pakistan over the years.
Jumping frog: Indian team was facing arch-rivals Pakistan in the world cup. Kiran More who was keeping wickets was continuously shouting on top his voice to cheer up Indian players. The frustrated Javed Miandad turned back and warned More and also complained to umpire. Then after playing the next bowl Javed came back to the crease and jumped twice like a frog. Still that funny moment is clear and fresh in the minds of cricket fans but still it is an unsolved mystery that why Javed jumped like a frog.
Bowl-out in 2007 World T20: It was the greatest moment in the history of cricket. In the do or die contest Indian team managed to tie the match, Sreesanth held his nerves successfully defended 1 run of last two deliveries. His brave effort helped Indian team to tie the match and the result was computed by a bowl-out contest. In the bowl out contest Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa and Harbhajan Singh successfully hit the stumps and sealed a nail-biting contest for India. It was probably the best moment in an India and Pakistan contest.
2007 World T20 final Over: This was probably the bravest decisions taken by M.S. Dhoni in his life. Ms Dhoni showed faith in Joginder Sharma and handed over last over to him to defend 13 runs. The Haryana lad was successful to defend 13 runs and Indian team was successful to lift the inaugural edition of the T20 world cup. The cup was a big boost to the Indian team as the team was going through a rough patch at that time.
Sachin-Sehwag response to Saeed Anwar century– In world cup 2003 Indian team again locked horns with the arch-rival Pakistan. Riding on a brilliant century from Saeed Anwar Pakistani team scored 273 runs. Pakistani team had the best bowling attack in the world cup consisting of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar and had a fair chance of winning the match. But in reply Sachin and young Sehwag provided an aggressive start to the team and scored quick fire 50 runs. Though Sehwag got out after sharing a partnership of 53 runs but Sachin Tendulkar continued his heroics and score 98 runs of just 75 balls. His innings helped Indian team to win the match comfortably. Sachin and Sehwag laid a strong foundation for the start of the innings to ease off the pressure from the middle order batsmen. During the innings, Tendulkar played some beautiful shots and that six of Shoaib Akhtar is still regarded as one of the shots of his career.
The deadly Karnataka combination– In the world cup of 1999 Pakistani team was successful to restrict Indian team to a total of 227. Every Pakistani fan was hoping for an easy win but they did not have any idea of what is to come. The three boys from Karnataka didn’t give a single opportunity to opposition batsmen to score runs and shared 10 wickets among them. Every run scored by Pakistani batsmen was like a big milestone achieved by them. Venkatesh Prasad was the pick of the bowlers as he dismissed 5 batsmen and gave away just 27 runs at an economy rate of just 2.84. Javgal Srinath grabbed 3 wickets whereas Kumble added two wickets to his tally. The deadly bowling spell from three teammates was probably the first instance where the bowlers from one state shared all wickets among them in a world cup game.
