India are in a commanding position against the Sri Lanka board eleven taking a lead of over 342 runs at the end of day two.
After being put into bat on day one, India made a solid start to their first innings with Shikhar Dhawan scoring a half century accompanied by a solid 43 by KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli didn’t add much runs to the total getting out on single figure. Ajinkya Rahane was the stand out batsman for India scoring a magnificent century (109 retd out). Pujara and Ashwin added valuable contributions which paved India to post a first innings total of 351.
Day two began with a rollicking start for the Indian bowlers picking up wickets on quick successions. Ishant Sharma, the experienced Indian bowler was on a roll picking up five wickets in just five overs and ended up with figures of 5-23 in 7 overs. Varun Aaron and Ravichandran Ashwin ended up with two wickets and Harbhajan singh with one. Umesh Yadav remained wicket-less. Sri Lanka rolled out for just 121.
India later in their second innings ended their day’s play with 112/3 in 40 overs with Pujara and KL Rahul unbeaten at the crease.
