Sunil Gavaskar – The legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar himself tops the list of a top run scorer in the series between the two teams. In 27 matches he played against this opposition, Gavaskar scored 2749 runs at a healthy average of 65.45 including 13 centuries and 7 half centuries alongside his name. In fact, Sunil Gavaskar made his debut against this team only and in the first series itself he showed his colours to this team. The young guy was the top run-scorer in that series.

His not out innings of 236* against this team in Chennai is still a delight to watch. He spent 644 minutes at the crease and faced 425 balls. His innings was quite crucial as when he came to bat the score was 0/2. He along with other players stitched a good partnership and forced the test match to end in a draw.

Laxman-2

V.V.S. Laxman – Our very own Very Very Special Laxman is too in this prestigious list. Laxman has scored 1715 runs in total against this team which includes 4 centuries and 11 half centuries. His batting average of 57.16 proves that he was quite heavy to handle. The miraculous innings of 176 runs came in a winning cause at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.  Riding on the century from him and Rahul Dravid, the Indian boys posted 631 runs on the board.  Team India wasted no time to wrap up first innings of the visitors before they wrapped up the second innings too with West Indies showing some fight in the last innings.

Master has 1630 runs in his account in 32 innings he has played against this team.  He also has 3 centuries and 10 half-centuries to his name. His enjoys batting average of 54.33 against this team. He has an emotional connection with them as he played his last international match against them. Playing at his home ground in Mumbai the master smashed 74 runs before being finally dismissed. Even the West Indies team could not enjoy his dismissal. In short, there are many test series that will be played between these two countries but Sachin Effect will remain between these two teams forever.
