The second practice match between India and Cricket Australia at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide ended in a draw. After trailing by 132 runs, CA XI lost five wickets with just 83 on board. The match was ended when the hosts were trailing by 49 runs as both the captains agreed to call off the match in the last hour of the day’s play. Jordn Silk remained unbeaten on 41 while skipper Ishant Sharma finished with figures of 2-8 while Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav and KArn Sharma finished with a wicket apiece.

India ended their first innings 375 achieving a lead of 132 runs in the first innings. After bundling out the hosts for a 243 in their first innings in their first innings, India ended the first day at 99-2 with Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli remained not-out on 39 and 30 respectively.

The duo resumed from where they left at the end of first day and reached their fifties in the first hour of play. At the end of 43rd over, Virat Kohli retired himself out for 66 giving other batsmen to get some practice before the first test at Adelaide. Two overs later, Murali Vijay followed his skipper when he had scored a well-made 60. Rohit Sharma joined Ajinkya Rahane in the middle as the Mumbai batsmen looked at ease playing against the quicks. Rohit was a bit aggressive and looked elegant in the beginning before slowing down in the beginning of the post lunch session. His innings finally ended when he was run out for 48.

Rahane, on the other hand, played some sensational shots in his 64 ball 56 before retiring. Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja contributed crucial 20 runs as India seized advantage in the first innings.  Wriddhiman Saha held one end and was determined to make a point ahead of the first test where he is expected to replace MS Dhoni. Saha scored his second fifty in two matches and was the last man out for 51.
