The Indian cricket team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni are not having a great time in Australia as they lost the Test series 2-0 followed by an early exit in the ongoing Triangular series. But these poor performances hasn’t stopped the cash-rich BCCI to put them up in a luxurious resort in order to “rest and recuperate” ahead of the World Cup. India will begin their title defence against Pakistan on February 15.
The BCCI has booked a resort in Adelaide for the members of the Indian team to relax themselves before going out all guns blazing in the World Cup. BCCI official said that the players needed a break after playing non-stop cricket for 2 months. But he also said that the board had granted the players to come back home and assemble in Adelaide on February 5.
He said: “We understand they are tired. We have booked them in a resort near Adelaide. They can switch off their mobile phones and relax and recover comfortably now. We actually had given them the option of checking into any resort in Australia, including a few good ones in Gold Coast. A few players wanted to go to Melbourne or Sydney to meet their relatives, and we have allowed that. If someone wants to come back to India, he is welcome to do so, but since the team must assemble on the evening of February 5 in Adelaide, time is short.”
The BCCI had announced that the wives and Girlfriends (WAGs) of the Indian players will not be allowed to travel with the players. But now, the board has prioritized the interest of players and gave them a much needed break in which the players can cool their heels before the start of the showpiece event.
