Indian Team Rope In Aniket Chaudhary To Counter Mitchell Starc Threat In Upcoming Series

With the four-match Test series against Australia just a fortnight away, the Indian team have already started their preparations for the all-important series. The Indian team has been tipped by many to dominate Steven Smith’s men but there is one player who can play spoilsport for the hosts and he is none other than Australia’s pace spearhead Mitchell Starc.
Starc was a part of the Australian team that was blanked (4-0) by Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side in 2013. The left-arm seamer, however, was not regular in the playing XI during that tour. He had played just two matches and took only a couple of wickets during that disastrous series. But the Indian team will face a different bowler this time around- a bowler who has become the most lethal fast-bowler in the world with his deadly pace and accuracy.
The Australian pacer has already proved he can wreak havoc even in sub-continental conditions with his performance in Sri Lanka last year. The fast bowler had taken 24 wickets in three matches including 3 five-wicket hauls and India, it seems, is well aware of the huge threat possessed by the Aussie star.
And they’ve already started their preparation to face Starc by facing lanky Rajasthan pacer Aniket Chaudhary in the nets session ahead of the Bangladesh Test. With his height and the decent pace that he works up, the 27-year-old can create close angles that would help the Indian batsmen to face Starc.
The Rajasthan star, who picked 21 scalps in this year’s Ranji Trophy, starred for India A during the two-day practice tie against Bangladesh prior to the one-off Test in Hyderabad. He picked four wickets in the warm-up game and was asked to join the Indian team in Hyderabad. He was also roped in by the Indian team management during the New Zealand series where the hosts successfully countered left-armer Trent Boult’s swing.
Meanwhile, India start their series against the team from Down Under in Pune on February 23 before heading to Bengaluru, Dharamsala and Ranchi for the remaining Tests.
