India‘s Biggest ODI Wins Against England

India defeated England in the second ODI at Cardiff by a huge margin of 133 runs. With that victory, India have achieved their second biggest win over England in terms of runs. Here is the list of five India’s biggest ODI wins against England.

158 Runs, Rajkot, 2008

Courtesy Yuvraj Singh‘s 78 ball 138 along with a 73 ball 85 from Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir‘s valiant Half Century propelled India to 387-5 in their fifty overs in the first ODI at the Madhav Rao Scindia Stadium, Rajkot. Chasing 388, England were no way giving trouble to the Indian bowlers as they were bundled out for 229 inside 38 overs. Kevin Pietersen scored 63 and Ravi Bopara scored 54 for the visitors.

133 Runs, Cardiff,2014

After being completely outplayed in the Test Series, the World Champions bounced back strongly and stamped their authority over the English at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni capitalized on the platform set by Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane and took India to a commendable total of 304-7. In reply Ravindra Jadeja led India to bundle out England for 161 and gave India a 133 run victory.

127 Runs, Kochi, 2013

Once again, it was Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja who led India to yet another huge win against England. This time, it was at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. After a slow start, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh did the repair works and set the platform for the Chennai Super Kings trio to attack at the end as they took India to 285-6 in 50 overs. In reply, England were nowhere near giving a fight for India. Ashwin and Jadeja helped India to bundle out the Poms for 158 in 36 overs.

126 Runs, Hyderabad, 2011

Once again, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja worked in tandem to demolish the Englishmen. In the first ODI at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Hyderabad, decent contributions from the trio propelled India to 300-7 in fifty overs. In reply, Jadeja and Ashwin combined again and destroyed the English batting line-up as they were cleaned up for 174 in 36 overs.

95 Runs, Kolkata, 2011

The history repeats itself at Kolkata. Dhoni, Raina and Jadeja along with Ajinkya Rahane and Gautam Gambhir and took India to 271-8 in 50 overs. In reply, England started off the chase brilliantly as their openers Alastair Cook and Craig Kiswetter put on 129 in the first 20 overs before Jadeja triggered a collapse. England lost all the wickets for 47 runs and ended up at 176 in 37 overs.
