Javagal Srinath, the former Indian pace superstar said Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s bowling strategy has become the talking point in the current International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup as the team bagged two convincing victories and praised young pacer Mohammed Shami for demonstrating “real maturity”.
On Sunday India demolished South Africa by a huge 130 runs to defeat them for the 1st time in ICC World Cup cricket based on a heavy batting display supplied by Shikhar Dhawan’s glorious ton. This was the Indian’s 2nd straight win, having played better than Pakistan in their ICC World Cup opener.
Javagal Srinath wrote in a column for ICC: “Two clinical but extremely convincing wins has set the ball rolling in the right direction for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men. The much assailed Indian bowling line-up would undoubtedly be the most discussed topic hereon in the team meetings of most countries in the tournament.”
He said in that article that more than the skill that the Indian bowlers do indeed possess, it is the procedure of implementation which has caught the opponent off-guard.
Javagal Srinath applauded the bowlers for completing the job after the batsmen set it up for them on both occasions.
Srinath especially selected Mohammed Shami for special praise.
He said that it should not matter who is batting against the bowler, and simply have to support his own capability and that is something Mohammed Shami has done really well. He has looked for wickets and to Srinath that is always an encouraging signal.
He also said that Umesh Yadav has done his portion quiet well while the comparatively less known Mohit Sharma has received the advantages of good opening spells from his two crony pacers to make his own mark.
