India’s key to winning the 2nd ODI match against New Zealand

After winning the first ODI match at Dharamshala, Indian team would be looking to assert their dominance over New Zealand in the second ODI match at Feroshah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. Indian team bowled first and restricted New Zealand to 190. In the batting department, Virat Kohli played a match winning knock of 85 which helped India to register a comfortable 6 wicket.

The second ODI match will be played at Feroshah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. Suresh Raina will not play in tomorrow’s match. In the first match Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly and did not allow the New Zealand batsmen to score runs easily. It is important for the Indian bowlers to continue in the same manner. Amit Mishra bowled very well and picked up 3 wickets in the first match while Axar Patel bowled well but could not pick any wicket.

In the batting department Rohit Sharma, Rahane, Manish Pandey, must contribute to the team cause which would not put pressure on Kohli. MS Dhoni must bat up higher the order so that he could get batting practice. It is important for the likes of Rohit Sharma, Rahane to put on a good opening partnership.

Manish Pandey who played well for India A needs to spend time in the middle. The biggest confusion for MS Dhoni would be the team combination. Kedar Jadhav picked 2 wickets in the first match.

The fielding for the Indian team in the first match was good. Apart from Umesh Yadav dropping a catch the ground fielding was brilliant. If the team could replicate the same dominating form in the 2nd match, then India will make it 2-0.

India will be going into the 2nd match with a lot of confidence. The team looks a solid unit and with Virat Kohli in brilliant form, this team will be looking to dent the confidence of New Zealand team more.

Hardik Pandya had a dream debut and was given the new ball. He delivered it by picking 3 wickets which put New Zealand on the back foot right from the start. Umesh Yadav and Bumrah too bowled well. These three bowlers would be looking to do the same at Kotla tomorrow to ensure India take a 2-0 lead.

Indian team needs to keep up the momentum going into the 2nd match. They must aggressive cricket and just not allow New Zealand team a chance into the series.
