There are some cricketers who are simply gifted. Their run making ability is a delight for everyone and when they get going, there are very few sights better in cricket. But due to some reasons, such players soon fade out of the international scene and escape from everyone’s memories. Vinod Kambli, is surely one such individual who will completely feature in this unwanted category.

Kambli was the ultimate talent for India and his test batting average of 54.2 just reiterates that fact. But soon due to unpleasant activities, Kambli lost his place from the Indian side and was nowhere in the cricketing circles. The Mumbai batsman made as many as 9 comebacks in the ODI team but all in vain.

Even after a decade of retirement, Kambli is in the news for the superfluous activities. In this article, we have a look at the instances when Vinod Kambli made sheer nuisance and proved out to be an embarrassment.

1. Abusing Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ramiz Raja on Twitter:

Kambli just a few weeks ago took to Twitter to vent out his frustration on commentators Sidhu and Raja. Kambli used some derogatory remarks against the two and left no stone unturned in attempting to garner the eyeballs. Later, Kambli said that it was his friend who made the remarks and he also “fired” that friend. Only the Almighty knows the true meaning of that “FIRED”!

2. Questions Sachin Tendulkar after being ignored at his post retirement party:

Tendulkar and Kambli were childhood friends and their batting records since the school days have been phenomenal. However, Kambli couldn’t digest the fact that he was not invited for Sachin Tendulkar’s post retirement celebrations. Kambli once again donned an inglorious outfit and began questioning Tendulkar. The mercurial left hander went on to say that Sachin owed a lot to him and that should not be forgotten. Crying over spilt milk won’t help you Mr. Kambli!

3. Mocks Sachin Tendulkar in a reality show:

This was undoubtedly the most humiliating instance for Kambli. While participating in Sach Ka Saamna, a reality show, Kambli alleged that Sachin did not help him. Kambli said that Sachin should have convinced the selectors to give Kambli another run in international cricket. The southpaw went on to say that being a friend, Sachin should have atleast done that much for him. Blaming others for one’s own downfall is a needless activity. We hope Vinod Kambli learns something from it.

4. Making match fixing allegations:

In November 2011, Vinod Kambli was photographed sobbing like a child in front of news channels. The controversial southpaw alleged that the 1996 semi final, in which India were defeated by Sri Lanka was fixed. He even went on to grumble that a few Indians wanted to purposely lose the game. This incident soon spread shockwaves throughout the Indian cricketing fraternity. By this act, Kambli surely lost a lot of respect and just got criticism for it. He did his best to increase the TRP’s of news channels.

5. Not paying the society dues:

Kambli was also guilty of not paying his society dues. As per reports that emerged, it was known that Kambli did not pay dues worth Rs. 10 lacs accumulated over 4 years. Kambli spread his wings of nuisance even outside the cricketing matters.

6. Called a bully by his neighbor:

The India discard had another altercation with his society members. On this occasion, it was his neighbor who had to bear Kambli’s brunt. The neighbor said that Kambli was a mere bully and nothing else. The cricketer misunderstood the statement and alleged that he was a victim of racism just because he was dark skinned. Another poor attempt to gain publicity it seems.

7. Unpaid bank loans:

Kambli’s financial tussles escalated altogether when he failed to repay a bank loan. The Dombivli Nagari Sahakari Bank was a victim of Kambli’s care a damn approach. The former Indian batsman took a housing and vehicle loan from the bank but did not care to pay the remaining amount after a few installments.
