Media report says that Gurunath Meiyappan, the team principal Chennai Super Kings (CSK) of IPL and Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh and bookie Vikram Aggarwal had about 200 telephonic talk between them. This has been divulged during the IPL 2013 spot fixing and betting impropriety enquiry which is being regulated by Supreme Court appointed Justice Mudgal Committee. This report also declared that Meiyappan, son in law of International Cricket Council boss Narayanswami Srinivasan had obtained mobile sim cards by submitting fake documents for the occasion of cricket betting.
The Forensic Science Laboratory recognized Meiyappan’s voice in a tapped phone conversation. He was talking with Vindoo Dara Singh in that evidence. Meiyappan had been charge-sheeted and has even spent time in jail in 2013.
This fixing scandal occurred in IPL 2013. Three cricketers S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan of Rajasthan Royals were arrested. The apex court had composed the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel to probe the spot-fixing and betting case in the IPL. Justice Mudgal who is a retired Punjab and Haryana High Court judge, led the 3 member panel which has Additional Solicitor General L Nageswara Rao and senior advocate Nilay Dutta in the panel, in last October.
The committee yielded its first report to the court after conducting a 4 month long enquiry. It is learnt that cricketers, board officials, cops, lawyers and even journalists had topple before the panel and assertion were recorded during the enquiry on equipment provided by BCCI, on 10th February.
The court had asked the committee to continue its enquiry of the persons named in the secured envelope. Justice (Retired) Mudgal had listed for particular organizations and individuals whose assistance he would require, which included a former India cricketer.
At the end of this month The Mudgal committee will yield their report.
