In the opening game of Indian Premier League (IPL) season 7, Defending Champions Mumbai Indians will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. We shall look at some of the players who may dominate the match with their performances.

Five players to be watched out for:

5. Gautam Gambhir:

The Kolkata Knight Riders Captain Gautam Gambhir hasn’t played for national side since last season. Even then he went through a decent Ranji season. But in the domestic T20 tournament he played brilliantly and was the top scorer till the phase he played before leaving for UAE. If he continues the same in the first game it will be a problem for opposition as he can lay the stones for a big building.

4. Lasith Malinga:

Malinga is widely known for his slinging action, toe-crushing yorkers and but not the least his hair. He slinging ball delivering is still a mystery for many players who played against him lot of times. His consistency delivering of Yorkers, slower balls troubles the batsmen in the shorter format who try for quick runs. If he goes on in present form he can be the man for MI to produce good start for them in the season.

3. Corey Anderson:

This New Zealand All Rounder has hit the headlines for breaking a 17-year old record of fastest ODI century of just 36 balls. Not only one innings to define, but he has been very consistent in recent time with both bat and ball. Smashes some useful runs with the bat and later picks wickets and breaks important partnerships. Even he is brilliant fielder who can save some useful runs. If this man gets going the oppositions have to put on their hands on the heads.

2. Sunil Narine:

The biggest hope in bowling for KKR is Sunil Narine. Came into this team in 2012, the season which they won the championship in which he played a crucial role. He regularly picks wickets troubling the batsmen. He had a good last season as well as a good World T20. The in-form off-spinner can trouble the batsmen and stop him scoring runs. He would be crucial in restricting the opposition batsmen.

1. Rohit Sharma:

This Mumbai Indians Captain has known for his reputation of playing consistently in IPL than on international stage. But in recent times he has improved his consistency for national squad too. This helps him as a confidence booster. With a type of player he is he suits to this format easily. He is the 2nd most run scorer in IPL and also 2nd most run scorer in T20s for India. If he strikes big MI can have a cakewalk.
