Among these twenty probables, the Orange Cap holder Robin Uthappa and Purple Cap holder Mohit Sharma are certainties in the playing XI led by MS Dhoni. The Playing XI constitutes five frontline batsmen, one wicket keeper, a solitary All Rounder, three pacers and a lone spinner.

Uthappa’s opening partner has to be a toss-up between Dwayne Smith and David Warner. Warner being used as a middle order batsman for Sunrisers in the majority of the tournament makes him to leave way for Smith to accompany Uthappa at the top.

Glenn Maxwell and Suresh Raina pick themselves in the middle order of the IPL Team of the Year. Raina has been consistent throughout the tournament and despite failing in the last three-four matches, Maxwell has been the reason behind Kings XI’s fairy tale run in the tournament. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma just edges out Man of the Match in the finals Manish Pandey for the remaining slot in the middle order.

As far as the wicket keeper is concerned, there should be no second thoughts in picking Mahendra Singh Dhoni who also takes the role of finisher. Find of the tournament Akshar Patel earns a spot as the bowling All Rounder in the side ahead of Shakib Al Hasan who misses out of the IPL Team of the Year due to the maximum limit of four foreigners in a playing XI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar leads the pace attack that includes the purple cap holder Mohit Sharma and Lasith Malinga. Malinga, in spite of missing the last few games for Mumbai, has picked up 16 wickets in 10 matches. He was economical with the ball and can be handy in the death overs.

Sunil Narine is the obvious pick for the role of a spinner in the IPL Team of the Year. Shakib Al Hasan has been chosen as the 12th man.
