1) Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are the two teams who have participated the most on the opening day of Indian Premier League. KKR tops the list with 5 matches on opening day followed by MI who have played thrice and are joint-second with CSK. The other teams to have played on the opening day are DD and DC (now SRH). Both have played one each match.

2) Kolkata Knight Riders have beaten Mumbai Indians only two times in 12 IPL matches played between them.

2)Match results are not the only thing which is one-sided in favour of MI in their matches against KKR, even the coin toss is lopsided in favour of the holders. MI skippers have won the toss in 9 out of the 12 tosses against KKR.

4)Sunil Narine, who has played only two seasons for KKR, is the team’s most successful bowler; the wily spinner from Trinidad has 46 wickets from 31 matches, followed by Jacques Kallis with 38 wickets.

5) Knight Riders are the franchise with the least number of centuries in the IPL – 1. That hundred came on the very first day of the inaugral season when Brendon McCullum smashed 158*.
