Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 22 runs at Feroshah Kotla, New Delhi just few moments ago. Kolkata Knight Riders restricted Sunrisers to 162. Sunrisers bowlers did an excellent job to put pressure on Kolkata Knight Riders batting line up. Kumar and Rahman were brilliant with ball in the death and helped Sunrisers to a victory.
- Brilliant spell by Kuldeep Yadav
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and choose to field. Kolkata Knight Rider’s bowlers started the innings nicely by taking early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. Sunrisers Hyderabad was struggling at 47 in the 7th over. Gambhir brought Kuldeep Yadav in the 8th over. He gave away only 5 runs in his first over and in his next over he dismissed Henquries and David Warner in quick succession to stall Sunrisers progress. In his last over Yadav dismissed Cutting on the very first ball. Yadav finished with figures of 3 for 35 in 4 overs.
- Partnership between Deepak Hooda and Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh and Deepak Hooda came at the crease after the fall of David Warner’s wicket. At the end of 10 over’s Sunrisers were 71 for 3. Both of them took 1 to 2 over’s settle. Yuvraj Singh looked in fantastic touch smashing Kuldeep Yadav for 1 boundary and 1 six in the 13th over. Deepak Hooda also played excellent shots of Narine and Holder to put pressure on Kolkata Knight Rider’s bowlers. Before Hooda being dismissed both of them put on 49 runs for the fourth wicket.
- Yuvraj Singh’s cameo
Yuvraj Singh played cautiously at the start of the innings. The first scoring shot for Yuvraj Singh was a four of Satish bowling. After settling he looked in brilliant he spanked Kuldeep Yadav for a six and four. He timed the ball and put pressure on Kolkata Knight Rider’s bowlers. He scored 44 off 26 balls which helped Sunrisers to post a competitive 162 runs.
- Regular fall of wickets put pressure on Kolkata while chasing a par total
Chasing a target of 163, Kolkata Knight Riders lost an early wicket of Robin Uthappa at the score of 15. Gambhir and Munro steadied the innings with a 38 runs stand for the second wicket before Munro was run out. Kolkata Knight Riders lost more important wickets of Gambhir and Yusuf Pathan to leave them in bad situation at 69 for 4. Surya kumar Yadav and Manish Pandey were looking good. Yadav played a poor stroke and was dismissed at the score of 115. The pressure was on Kolkata Knight Riders top order batsmen to deliver the goods and they could not handle it. Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen were not able put big partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. Manish Pandey was the top scorer with 36.
- Brilliant death bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahman
At the start of 16th over, Kolkata Knight Riders needed 47 off 24 balls with Manish Pandey and Satish at the crease. In the 17th over Rahman gave away only 7 runs which put pressure on Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant 18th over giving away 6 runs and picking the important wicket of Manish Pandey while Rahaman continued his good performance by giving away 7 runs. In the last over, KKR needed 25 runs as Bhuvneshwar Kumar only 1 run and picked 2 wickets to help Sunrisers to a victory and place in qualifier 2 against Gujarat Lions.
