IPL 2016: Per-match earning of top players

IPL 2016 has just ended on a high. Almost two months long Indian franchise tournament produced great entertainment like previous years. In the IPL 2016, many top players performed very well on the ground.
For IPL 2016, some players were bought by their franchises while many players were retained by their franchises. In this article, we will talk about some top players’ per-match earning in IPL 2016
(Note: In the beginning of the year, IPL official website had published the actual salary of players who were retained which is not same for as their auction price, at least for some players. In that case we have considered the actual salary revealed by the IPL official website):
- Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – INR 9,375,000.00
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained their captain Virat Kohli for IPL 2016. His retention price was INR 125,000,000 but as per the IPL official website at the beginning of the year, Kohli’s salary was INR 150,000,000. Virat played 16 matches in IPL 2016. So, his per match salary in IPL 2016 was – INR 9,375,000 (as per actual salary revealed by IPL official website).
- MS Dhoni (Rising Pune Supergiants) – INR 8,928,571.43
The new IPL team Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) captain MS Dhoni received the second highest salary in IPL 2016. The Indian limited-over captain’s IPL salary was INR 125,000,000 and he played 14 matches in IPL 2016. Dhoni’s per match salary in IPL 2016 was INR 8,928,571.43.
- Shikhar Dhawan (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – INR 7,352,941.18
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Shikhar Dhawan was retained by SRH for IPL 2016 and his retention price was INR 125,000,000 (also as per actual salary revealed by IPL official website). Dhawan played 17 matches in the IPL 2016 which means his per match earning was INR 7,352,941.18
- Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) – INR 8,214,285.86
Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma was a retained player for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2016 whose actual salary was INR 115,000,002 as per revealed by IPL official website at the beginning of the year (actual retention price is INR 125,000,000). Rohit Sharma played 14 matches in IPL 2016 which means his per match earning was INR 8,214,285.90.
- Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders) – INR 7,142,857.14
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir was a retained player for KKR whose actual revealed salary by IPL official website is INR 100,000,000 (actual retention price – INR 125,000,000). Gambhir played 14 matches in IPL 2016 which means his per match earning was INR 7,142,857.10.
- Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians) – INR 7,461,538.50
Kieron Pollard was also a retained player for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2016 whose actual revealed salary was INR 97,000,000 (actual retention price – INR 95,000,000). Pollard played 13 matches in the IPL 2016. So, his per match earning in IPL 2016 was INR 7,461,538.46.
- Shane Watson (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – INR 5,937,500.00
Shane Watson was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for INR 95,000,000 in the IPL 2016 auction. The Australian all-rounder played 16 matches for RCB in IPL 2016. His per match salary in the IPL 2016 was INR 5,937,500.
- Suresh Raina (Gujarat Lions) – INR 6,333,333.33
Suresh Raina was the captain of new IPL team Gujarat Lions whose actual revealed salary by official IPL website is INR 95,000,000 instead of his actual price is INR 125,000,000. Raina represented his team for 15 matches in IPL 2016.So, Raina earned INR 6,333,333.33 from per match in IPL 2016.
- AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – INR 5,937,500.00
AB de Villiers was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2016 for which his retaining price was INR 95,000,000. AB de Villiers played 16 matches in IPL 2016 and that means AB de Villiers was earning INR 5,937,500 from per match in IPL 2016.
- Pawan Negi (Delhi Daredevils) – INR 10,625,000.00
Delhi Daredevils bought Pawan Negi from IPL 2016 auction by INR 85,000,000. Negi played only 8 matches in IPL 2016. It means he earned INR 10,625,000 from per match in IPL 2016.
