Brief Story: Strength, Weakness, Players to watch out for, Full squad, Likely playing XI, Likely position
IPL (Indian Premier League) 2016 is knocking at the door. The new IPL team Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) are ready with their very experience IPL captain to firing in the IPL 2016. RPS made an interesting team for this year IPL, where they gave importance to the experienced players. However, they also took some new domestic cricketers in their squad. The details team analysis are given below:
Batting is the biggest strength for the new IPL team. RPS has a good batting line-up like Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen, MS Dhoni, Steven Smith etc. Also, the team has a good strength in the all-rounder slots, both Indian and foreigner. Some of them are Irfan Pathan (India), Mitchell Marsh (Australia), Albie Morkel (South Africa), Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka) etc., all of them are good cricketers especially in T20. In the bowling line-up, most of the pacers are Indian and most of them have good experience in the international cricket. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin will be leading in the spin slot.
Bowling is one of the weak spots for this new franchise team. In the RPS squad, though the Indian pacers have good experiences in the international cricket but most of them have suffered from their inconsistency form. On the other hand, RPS has a lack of experience spinners except Ravichandran Ashwin.
Players to watch out for:
Baba Aparajith: Baba Aparajith is one of RPS players, who need to watch out during this IPL. He is an all-rounder who came into the limelight during the ICC U19 WC 2012. He played a significant role during that tournament which India U19 had won. The 21-years old right-handed batsman has a good ability to bat under pressure while he can also put an important impact with his right-arm off break bowling.
Irfan Pathan: After coming back from the several injuries, he is one of the in-form domestic cricketers at the present days. He showed great all-round performances during the domestic T20 tournament. His fitness looks like much better at the present time. All Indian cricket fans are surely waiting to watch his performance in the IPL 2016.
RP Singh: Like Irfan Pathan, RP Singh was also an important cricketer for the Indian cricket team at once. But after his fitness problem and consistency decreasing bowling form, he was also washed out from the limelight. But at the recent time, he performed very well in the domestic cricket. He looks like in a good touch and performing consistently at the present moment. Like Irfan Pathan, RP Singh has also a great chance to show his ability into the IPL 2016.
Murugan Ashwin: Murugan Ashwin is one of the surprise selections in the IPL 2016 auction where he was bought by RPS for INR 4.5 crore from the base price of INR 10 lakhs. Murugan Ashwin is a leg-spinner, which is a very important slot in the IPL. The 25-years old cricketer has not enough experience in the domestic cricket but recently he performed very well in the domestic T20 tournament. On the addition, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised his bowling.
MS Dhoni (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Kevin Pietersen, Ankit Sharma, Faf du Plessis, Baba Aparajith, M Ashwin, R Ashwin, Steven Smith, Ankush Bains, Rajat Bhatia, Albie Morkel, Scott Boland, Deepak Chahar, Ashok Dinda, Jaskaran Singh, Mitchell Marsh, Ishwar Pandey, Irfan Pathan, Thisara Perera, Ishant Sharma, RP Singh, Adam Zampa, Saurabh Tiwary, Peter Handscomb.
Likely Playing XI:
MS Dhoni (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen, Steven Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, RP Singh, Ishwar Pandey.
MS Dhoni is one of the successful leaders in the cricket history. In this season, he gets a good batting line-up but there are lots of works to do in the bowling line-up for achieving success. If the team’s players perform successfully as their own levels during this IPL season, then RPS can easily reach the semi-final at least.
