IPL 2017: Current Team Standings In Points Table

IPL 2017 is the 10th edition of this cash-rich tournament. Like the every previous year, there is high expectation from this tournament.

Total 8 teams are participating in IPL 2017. These 8 teams are: Delhi Daredevils (DD), Gujarat Lions (GL), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Like the previous seasons, the tournament format has not changed. So, the importance of the points table has remained same. During the league stage round of IPL 2017, each team will play twice against every other team on a home and away basis. It means each team will play 14 matches during the league stage round. After the end of league stage round, the top four teams in the points table will qualify for the play-off rounds

Before the beginning of the playoff rounds, a total of 56 matches will be played during the league stage round of IPL 2017.

Later during the playoffs, the 1st and 2nd placed teams in points table will meet in the Qualifier 1 while the 3rd and 4th placed teams will meet in the Eliminator. The winner of the Qualifier 1 will advance to the final of IPL 2017 while the loser of the Qualifier 1 will have to fight against the winner of Eliminator in the Qualifier 2 round.

On the other hand, the losing team of the Eliminator will be out of the tournament. The winner of Qualifier 2 will meet against the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final of the tournament, where the winner will become the champion of the tournament.

The inaugural game of IPL 2017 was played between the defending champion SRH and the last time’s runners-up RCB at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad). In that match, SRH beat RCB comfortably by 35 runs.

In the second match of this tournament, RPS beat MI by 7 wickets at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. On the other hand, KKR beat GL by 10 wickets in the match 3 of IPL 2017 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Rajkot).

Meanwhile, KXIP clinched a 6-wicket victory in their opener of the tournament, which was against RPS at Holkar Cricket Stadium (Indore). However, DD lost their opening game in IPL 2017 against RCB (at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore) who achieved their first victory in this tournament by 15 runs.
