IPL 2017: Match 25: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rising Pune Supergiant – RPS Playing XI

After a break of six days, Rising Pune Supergiant, the second last placed team in the points table will get on the field to take on the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. The pressure will be on the home side i.e. Pune keeping in mind their road in the tournament till now.

The players got ample of time to refresh themselves and now would be vying to come up with results after the break. It will be an arduous task for them as the way Hyderabad team have played till now, they seem to be the best team in the lot.  So more than the competition, it will be the mental pressure which will play a significant role in the game.

Previous encounter –
Lat year, Pune and Hyderabad met each other twice and both the teams registered a win apiece. After suffering a defeat in the first encounter, the defending champions made a comeback defeating the opponent in the second game. This time it will be an interesting contest as it will Australia’ skipper Steven Smith and his deputy David Warner who will lock horns in a quest to trump the other captain to prove their prowess as the captain of a side. As said, pressure will be on Pune once again.

Talking points –

The main reason for Pune’s win in the last game was the aggressive opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi and a perfect finishing word from Manoj Tiwary. Though the other batsmen also contributed but once the wicket started falling, the batsmen went back in quick succession. It was at that time when Manoj Tiwary stood up with an innings of  27 off 11 just balls, that gave their bowlers extra 20 runs to defend. This time, the talk to promote Manoj Tiwary in the batting order would be the biggest talking point.

Predicted XI –

There might be one change in the playing XI of Rising Pune Supergiant as the team management might drop Daniel Christian to add Faf du Plessis in the squad keeping in mind the epic collapse of the batting lineup in the last game. Though Christian bowled well but it is also to be noted that Rahul Chahar did not bowl at all and he will be one the key players in the spinning conditions in Pune.
