IPL 2017 – Match 37 – Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Match Prediction

Among all the sides this season, two sides along with the Mumbai Indians that have set the arena ablaze have been the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Both these sides are defined by two charismatic individuals, who believe in the utmost utilisation of their resources aggressively. The results have been evident as well, with the two sides performing exceptionally so far.

While the hosts are placed third in the points table, the visitors led by the energetic Gautam Gambhir occupy that top spot and would be eager to carry on the lead.

Overview:

SRH: Coming on the back of a convincing 26 runs victory over Kings XI Punjab in Mohali, the Sunrisers now return to their fortress. Their record at home has been superb so far and an away win in the previous encounter was just what they needed to spike up their confidence.

Shikhar Dhawan’s return to form was the biggest plus for this outfit, as with the Indian opener firing all guns, David Warner’s job becomes far easier.

KKR: Like the Sunrisers, the Knight Riders also come on the back of a perfect win against the Delhi Daredevils. In a moderate run chase, the Gautam Gambhir-led outfit was simply ruthless as they made the target look like a walk in the park.

Bowling was always the strength of this team, and now with the batsmen joining in, there’s no reason to doubt them.

Views on Think Tank:

SRH: While Yuvraj Singh’s form has dipped a bit since that opening game of the season, otherwise things look quite good for the Sunrisers. Kane Williamson at number three has been an absolute gem, as the Kiwi has come out of his shell and played a couple of awe-inspiring knocks.

Bowling wise too, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have turned out to be proven match winners for them.

KKR:  Be it the move to use Sunil Narine as an opener or to try Nathan Coulter-Nile at the expense of Trent Boult, all decisions from this camp have yielded fruitful results. Post their convincing win over the Daredevils at home, the Knight Riders are unlikely to make any changes.

One change could be Shakib Al Hasan coming in for Colin De Grandhomme, but that seems unlikely.

Strengths:

SRH: As mentioned above for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, more or less all bases are well covered. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been an absolute champion this season and his bowling at the death has more often than not turned out to be match-winning. Rashid Khan in the middle overs has been another revelation, as he has pulled things back with ease.

KKR:  Despite a few doubts over Robin Uthappa initially, the Orange Cap holder of 2014 responded in style with a flurry of mesmerising half centuries. Within just the matter of a few games, Uthappa now finds himself in the list of the leading run-getters. While chasing, he along with Gautam Gambhir are a formidable duo.

Team Changes:

SRH: They are unlikely to make any change to a team which comfortably won an away from home recently. If needed, Bipul Sharma could get a look in at the expense of the underperforming Deepak Hooda.

KKR: Known to stay on with consistency, the Knight Riders don’t need to change their team. However, if they prefer to rotate their pacers, then one could see Nathan Coulter-Nile being rested.

Head to Head:

Earlier this season at the Eden Gardens, the Knight Riders comfortably beat the Sunrisers while defending a healthy total.

Prediction:

All in all, it would be a cracker of a contest. However, if one was to pick a likely favourite, it would be the Kolkata Knight Riders owing to their prolonged victorious run.
