IPL 2017: Match 51: Mumbai Indians Vs Kings XI Punjab Match Prediction

The one already qualified side Mumbi Indians side will face Kings XI Punjab, in match 51 of IPL 2017, which still has its finger crossed as they won their last game against Kolkata Knight Riders and are still hopeful of making it to the next round.

For Mumbai, it will be a game where they have to avoid a deja vu of their previous game as they lost their previous encounter against Gujarat Lions, which could have lowered their confidence as it was a loss that shocked them ahead of the playoffs.

On the other side, it’s a do or die game for Kings XI Punjab where, if they win then, they are on their track to the next round or else it will be the end of the road for them. The win the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders would have surely raised their confidence as they snatched the win from jaws of defeat.

Overview –

It’s the time for Mumbai Indians to try out new combinations as they are already in the second round but skipper Rohit Sharma might be well versed with the fact that even when they make changes, they do not affect team’s form.

For Kings XI Punjab, the chase is still on and they will continue to fight it out as the team has covered a full circle in 12 games they have played so far. They kicked off their tourney with two wins followed by four back to back losses and again a few couple of wins and losses. The team, even though, is not the best of the sides this season but the way they performed in the last game, it was a big confidence booster for them.

View on think tank –

Mumbai Indians’ think tank would have a clear thought, to win the game and be on the top of the table. Still, the team management might want to experiment a player or two as this side has the best of the bench strength as well.

Kings XI Punjab’s think tank would like to stick to the plans they opted for in the last game. However, it will be difficult for domestic players to emulate last game’s heroics and therein lies the biggest challenge – How to be consistent?

Possible line-up:

Mumbai Indians’ side might look to give chances to youngsters, as mentioned. Kings XI might want to stick to the same playing XI, in hope for similar results.

However, they will have an uphill task as Mumbai is one of the strongest sides in the tournament and are a strong contender to win the cup as well.

Head to Head:

The two teams have met each other a total of 19 games where Mumbai Indians have won 10 games whereas Kings XI Punjab has sealed a win in nine games. Before this season, both the teams had equal numbers of wins and losses.

Prediction:

The match will be played at Wankhede Stadium and will start at 8 P.M. So we can expect the team winning toss to dominate the game due to the main fact that dew will also come into play later in the evening. Still, one can tag Mumbai Indians as the favourable team going into the contest.
