IPL 2017 Match 53 – Gujarat Lions Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – SRH Predicted XI
May 12, 2017 at 6:28 PM
Thanks to their own approach, the Sunrisers Hyderabad now find themselves in a spot of bother as only a win now can guarantee their advancement into the playoffs. With 15 points in 13 games, the side is delicately placed, as a loss to the Gujarat Lions at Kanpur could well end their campaign if Kings XI Punjab beat the Rising Pune Supergiant on Sunday afternoon.
Recent form wise, however, the defending champions will be pretty upbeat as they come on the back of a convincing win over Mumbai Indians at home. The move to play Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi turned out to be a great choice as the off-spinner derailed Mumbai’s batting lineup. That was a more attacking choice as in-form New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson was rested. Going into Kanpur, the Sunrisers would be hoping to repeat a similar performance from their previous game.
PREVIOUS ENCOUNTER:
The sides clashed very early into the season within the first week of this edition as the Sunrisers hammered the Gujarat Lions at home. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan toyed away with the Lions batsmen as he picked up three crucial top order wickets, all LBW’s.
Needing a mediocre 136 to win, the Sunrisers got there with more than 4 overs to spare as skipper David Warner led the assault with a fine half century. All-rounder Moises Henriques too contributed with an unbeaten half century.
Recent form this season:

SRH: W, L, L, W, W
Talking Points:
Sunrisers’ star batsman Yuvraj Singh was injured against Mumbai Indians as he hurt his little finger in the process of collecting the ball. According to mentor VVS Laxman, the veteran southpaw should be fit for the clash as he had plenty of time to recover. If Yuvraj isn’t fully fit, one can expect Deepak Hooda to take his place for the all important clash.
Mohammad Nabi is bound to be retained after such a phenomenal bowling performance where he choked the Mumbai batting. Apart from his tight off-spin bowling, Nabi offers a decent batting package as well which can be used. Despite underperforming for a long part of the season, Moises Henriques would be retained.
