IPL 2017: “Not A Lot Of Teams Have Pace Attack Like Us” Says Gautam Gambhir

Kolkata Knight Riders dominated and decimated the visiting Royal Challengers Bangalore to hand them their worst ever defeat in the history.
RCB was packed on their lowest ever total and failed to play even ten complete overs. It was a brilliant show from KKR pacers, who shared ten wickets amongst themselves.
The score of 131, which earlier looked to be a low total proved to be a giant one for the Virat Kohli-led side.
Kolkata Knight Riders had a great start to the innings, as once again opener Sunil Narine fired with the bat at the start. He along with Gautam Gambhir shared 48 runs for the first wicket before the skipper was dismissed caught by keeper Kedar Jadhav off Tymal Mills. Narine though continued his great form and was dismissed after scoring 34 runs in only 17 balls.
This was the only established partnership for the team, as the successive batsmen just failed to continue the good start. Their middle order comprising of Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan failed and none of the batsmen could not even touch the 15 runs mark.
The middle order failure put pressure on the other batsmen and team could just manage to score 131 runs but in the second innings, it was all KKR show, as their bowlers shared ten wickets among themselves to dominate the game.
Here is what captain Gautam Gambhir said after the win –
Gautam Gambhir:
“Very professional. A lot of credit needs to go to the bowling attack. Not a lot of teams have the kind of pace that we have. We just want them to hit the deck and bowl quick and that’s what they did. We didn’t bat well at all. We should have got 160-170. If you’re looking to win the tournament, you can’t bat like that. We thought that there was something in there for the fast bowlers. Lot of credit needs to go to the bowling department. I’ve not seen a more impressive bowling attack. That was the message. Try to express yourself with the pace you’ve got. Lot of oppositions think we are a chasing side. So if you win batting first, it gives you a lot of confidence.”
