Just like every other season of Indian Premier League, this season has also brought some young faces in line for discussion. Players like Rishabh pant, Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan and Basil Thampi are the ones taking limelight this season. With MS Dhoni being in line for the retirement, Indian selectors will be looking for a replacement for him.
Rishabh Pant, in the past one year, has become a sensation in the Indian domestic circuit with his blistering performances in each and every domestic tournament.
In the previous season of IPL he started well but later lost his track but this season he is looking consistent at his position with his shots. With Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in line with him for the place, Rishabh Pant seems to be winning this race. He recently made his India debut as well, although in T20 format. His Delhi team-mate Sam Billings feels Rishabh Pant can become MS Dhoni’s successor as a wicketkeeper-batsman. In an interview Sam Billings said,
“He is phenomenal, both as a batsman and as a keeper, just looking at the way he has done in these first few games. He was standing up to the stumps, Almost Doni-esque. There is no doubt in my mind that once MS hangs his boots, Pant is the guy to replace him. Big words I know, but you just see him and it is there”
Apart from Rishabh Pant his Delhi team-mate, Sanju Samson also had scored a century this season and Ishan Kishan in last games almost got Gujarat closer to the winning position, the only thing he needed was support at the other end. So the competition for this place is heating up and we will expect some more impressive performance from these youngsters in the coming days.
