Delhi Daredevils did not enjoy the best of the outings in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
The capital-based outfit showed a glimpse of their immense potential on few occasion but inconsistency cost them dearly, as they bowed out of the tournament with just six wins to their name. But contrary to the Daredevils’ season, Rishabh Pant had a decent run with the bat.
The left-handed batsman walked into the season after suffering a huge personal tragedy. Just a couple of days before his team’s first match of the season, he lost his father but showed great determination, leaving behind his personal tragedy to join his team just a day after performing the last rites of his father. And as if it was not enough to show his immense grit and determination, he blasted 57 runs off just 36 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the season.
He ended the season with 366 runs in 14 matches at a stunning strike-rate of over 165. His standout innings this year was a 43-ball 97 against Gujarat Lions when he helped Delhi Daredevils to chase down a mammoth 208 with 15 balls to spare.
Brilliant performance in Ranji Trophy:
The highly-rated 19-year old batsman turned heads with his sensational batting performances in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy. He scored 972 runs from nine matches, a highest of 308, four hundred, two fifty at an amazing average of 81 and with an astonishing strike-rate of 107.28.
103 fours and 49 sixes only showed the destruction he can cause when in full flow. His good show was rewarded with a maiden India call when he was picked in the team for the three-match T20I series against England.
The IPL is all done and dusted now for him as well as his team and the rising star of Indian cricket enjoyed a highly successful season by gifting himself a new car.
An Instagram page, which is managed by his fans, recently uploaded pictures of the batsman posing with his new Mercedes.
