IPL 2017: Top 5 Overseas Players Who Have Played In All Previous Seasons

The Indian Premier League is undoubtedly the biggest T20 extravaganza on the planet. Players from around the world have always taken a keen interest in plying their trades in the cash-rich league.

However, since the Indian Premier League schedule does not feature in the International Cricket Council’s schedule, the overseas players have found it tough to remain loyal to franchises.

Moreover, the hectic schedule of the Indian Premier League have forced many injury-prone players to opt of the tournament. For example, Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc had ruled himself out of this year’s tournament in February after suffering numerous injuries in the last couple of years. However, there are few players who have played in all the nine seasons of the tournament.

So here we are having a look at 5 big names who have plied their trade in all the bygone seasons of the IPL:

Dwayne Bravo:

One of the best all-rounders in the shortest format of the game, the West Indies star has played for three teams in the nine seasons of the IPL.  He was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2008 where he stayed for three seasons and reached the final in 2010. In 2011, his services were secured by Chennai Super Kings where he enjoyed considerable success. He tasted IPL success in his very first season with the Chennai-based franchise and was a part of the team which finished runners-up in three seasons. In 2016, the West Indian all-rounder was picked by the new team Gujarat Lions in the player draft after Chennai Super Kings were suspended for a couple of years.

Bravo has played 106 matches so far, scoring 1262 runs in addition to picking up 122 wickets.

Albie Morkel:

The highly-rated South Africa all-rounder considered by many as the next Lance Klusener never managed to make it big on the international stage but managed to do considerably well in the Indian Premier League. A hard-hitting batsman and a medium pacer, Morkel took the inaugural season of the IPL by storm when he scored 241 runs in addition to picking up 17 wickets for Chennai Super Kings. He stayed with the Chennai-based outfit for six long years, where he won two titles and a Champions League crown.

In 2014, the Proteas star was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore where he failed to make a big impact. In the following season, he was roped in by Delhi Daredevils before making a switch again in 2016, when newcomers Rising Pune Supergiants acquired his services.

Overall, he has played 91 matches and has scored 974 runs in addition to taking 85 wickets.

Arguably the finest pacer of this generation, the South Africa star has endured an injury-ridden few years but it has not stopped him to give this tiring tournament a miss.  Bought in 2008 by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Steyn remained with the Bangalore-based franchise for three seasons before playing his trade for Deccan Chargers for a couple of seasons. He then moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad after Deccan Chargers were terminated from the IPL. And after spending two seasons with the Sunrisers, he was bought by Gujarat Lions in 2016.

The right-arm pacer has picked up 92 wickets in 90 IPL matches so far.
