IPL 2017: Twitter Reacts As Sunrisers Hyderabad Seal Their Playoff Berth With Comfortable Win Over Gujarat Lions

Riding on David Warner and Vijay Shankar’s fifties, defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad sealed their place in this year’s playoffs with an eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Lions in their final league game.
Chasing a modest yet tricky total of 155 in the crunch clash, the defending champions were in a spot of bother when Praveen Kumar accounted for Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques with only 25 runs on the board. Another wicket at the point of time would have surely put them under severe pressure but captain David Warner once again led his team from the front to pull them out of trouble. And the Australian opener was ably supported by newcomer Vijay Shankar.
With their team in trouble, both the batsmen began cautiously but kept the scorecard ticking with the runs and the occasional boundaries. However, they began playing the big shots once they got their eyes set, as they set their team on the path to a comfortable win.
Both the batsmen scored half-centuries and shared an unbeaten partnership of runs 133 runs to guide their team to a comfortable win.
However, the outcome could have been different had Dinesh Karthik not dropped Vijay Shankar when he was batting on just six and an umpiring howler which gave Warner a reprieve when he was playing on 29. But barring those two chances, the batsmen looked in total control throughout their innings.
Warner remained unbeaten on 69 from 52 balls while Shankar scored 63 off 44 balls. Both the batsmen struck nine fours each, as the reigning champions chased down the total with 11 balls remaining.
Earlier, the Sunrisers Hyderabad did a brilliant job to pull off things in the second half of the Gujarat Lions innings to bowl them out for 154. Dwayne Smith and Ishan Kishan had given the Lions a great start by adding 111 runs for the first wicket from just 65 balls. However, the floodgates opened once Smith was dismissed for 54, as the Lions lost their next four wickets inside 12 balls. They never recovered from that setback and were eventually dismissed for 154 in 19.2 overs.
Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers with figures of four for 32 in his four overs.
`Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
The rained out game for SRH could put them in or out of the top 2.

Warner is IPL titan. Can play anchor and aggressor with equal mastery. Also captains superbly

A costly umpiring error…once again. Warner was the beneficiary this time. Umpiring has been quite ordinary this #IPL #GLvSRH
