If cricket is known as gentleman’s game then Kings XI Punjab batsman Hashim Amla is no less that its brand ambassador after an amazing act of sportsmanship in the ongoing match between Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
With their hopes of making it to the playoffs hanging by a thread, the Punjab-based outfit needed a good start to put themselves in a strong position. However, their hopes were quashed when the in-form Amla walked off the ground after scoring just a solitary run. But despite failing wit the bat, the Protea star won each and every heart with his sportsmanship.
The incident had occurred on the fifth ball of the very first over when Amla tried to cut a Aniket Choudhary delivery but missed to make any contact with the ball which went straight into the gloves of Kedar Jadhav behind the stumps. However, there was a faint edge which was missed by everyone including the umpire. Not surprisingly, the wicketkeeper as well as the bowler did not even bother to appeal since they did not notice the edge but Amla showing a brilliant gesture, ignored the umpire and headed towards the pavilion. Later, the replays confirmed the faintest of the edges.
Here is a clip of that incident:
